I am grateful. Because when I wake up in the morning, I wake up to a brand new day, and I can stretch my limbs leisurely, and every part of my body functioning properly. I utter a quick prayer, thanking the Lord for blessing me with another day. A new day brings new mercies, new beginnings, and it is up to us how we use it.
I am grateful. As I went for my morning jog, I saw the beauty of the sun coming up from the horizon. I saw some goats grazing in some vacant lots. I saw flowers in bloom, and I realized that there is beauty all around us, but most of the time, because we are so busy, we fail to look around and appreciate God's creation that give glory to their Creator. Even the clouds are beautiful! Take time to gaze at God's wonderful creation!
I am grateful. As I sat down for breakfast and gave thanks for my food, I realized that not everyone have food on their table. Some people have to beg, scavenge, some even forced to steal, just to be able to put food in their mouths. And so I took the time to appreciate what I was eating, and grateful that I could have my fill.
I am grateful. When we arrived in church and started singing, two of the songs we sang spoke about God's grace- unmerited favor. It spoke about how in the lowest point in our lives, in the mess that we were in, God chose to toss His heart into the mess, and took us out of the darkness into His glorious light. a few lines of the song goes this way: 'Your grace so marvelous, all sufficient and free. Is more, more than enough, to redeem and rescue me.' As I was singing that song, the tears just wouldn't stop flowing. I was just too overwhelmed by the goodness of God towards me and my family. I remembered the darkest moments of my life and realized that He was right there with me, never letting me go, and helped me to get back up again. He is always faithful. And His mercies endures forever.
I am grateful. As my family gathers every Sunday at my place, and we eat together, we tease each other, we bicker, we shout, and do all things that family members do, I realize that God has surrounded me with people who love and care for me. Friends who encourage, neighbors that care, strangers that say hello to when we see them on the way, God has put every one of them there for a purpose, and we are to love them the best way we can. We need to extend a helping hand to those in need, we are to say I love you to people we love. Love like there is no tomorrow, because we never know when we will have to lose people around us.
There are so many things to be grateful for. Little things, big things. If we have a grateful heart, God will surely bless us with so much more. If we appreciate the big things, we should also appreciate the small things. Let us be grateful.
