Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hello every one! It's been a while since I last posted a recipe. Been busy with other things, but last weekend I had to bake for a party, and I was asked to bake chocolate chip cookies, so this was my chance to take pictures of my cooking process again.

Here are our ingredients then:
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 pack unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp water

And, as has been my tradition, the very first picture you see is that of the finished product, just so you have an idea of what you'll be seeing after all your efforts. :-) Pre-heat your oven to 185 degrees.

In a medium bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside. Please note that since I was baking for a party, I doubled all the ingredients so that you see double the usual amount.

Here are my chocolate chips. You can buy them by the kilo in most supermarkets, or in shops that sell baking goods.

Either by hand if you are very strong, or by electric mixer, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. And of course it takes longer if you're doing it by hand.

It should look like this after. Creamy and all the sugar thoroughly mixed.

Add the eggs, vanilla and water. Beat until combined, about 40 seconds.

It should look like this afterwards. Creamy but a little bit thinner than when you creamed the butter and sugars.

Add your flour and chocolate chips. By this time I mix the solid ingredients by hand, because I don't want to over beat the flour.

Mix until just combined, making sure that there are no separate flour particles in the dough.

Drop batter by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing pieces of dough about 1 inch apart. Bake, reversing position of cookie trays up and down, and front and back halfway through baking time, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges begin to crisp, 8-10 minutes.

Cool cookies on sheets for 1-2 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks with a big spatula.

And tada! There you have your big chocolate chip cookies ready to eat! If you are a fan of chocolates, you can increase the amount to 2 cups, and as a variation, you may want to add coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans. Your choice. Happy baking!

I tried it with pine nuts and it was super yummy!
