Another Summer In Nantucket

Hello again! To our readers from other countries, hope you are enjoying your summer so far. It is the rainy season in our part of the world and we wish for the sun most of the time as it has been raining incessantly for the last couple of weeks.
So, to 'get away' from the rain, let me share another summer trip that I had in Nantucket, Massachusetts. I have been fortunate to have spent several summers in this beautiful island, and here are some more pictures I'd like to share.

Since Nantucket is an island, it is accessible by ferry, by private boat and by plane. So they have a dock that is home to some of the world's finest yachts and boats.

The population of the island balloons in the summer time as people from all parts of the country who have summer houses in the island, as well as people who come and stay in rental houses and those that stay in hotels come and enjoy the beaches and the food in the island.

This is Children's beach, called as such because this beach is very kid friendly. There is a playground, there is a nearby restaurant as well as a field where shows and performances are held. Families with children can enjoy in this part of town without fear that their kids will get bored.

A beautiful sunset along the beach as we had a lobster dinner party one time. Lobsters and corn are the best combination when dining at the beach. And clams too! :-)

Here's another one. I just love the hue of the sky as the sun sets. It varies every single time.

This is downtown. Nantucket is famous for having cobblestones roads in most parts of the town. In this part there are restaurants, shops, a library, a museum, so there is always something to do.

If you're a water enthusiast you can also rent a boat, and you can go fishing, sailing, or any other activity you wish to do in the water.

One of the things I love in Nantucket, or in the US, generally. The delicious ice cream! And they are huge!!! This is just one scoop but is so filling.

And of course, as I spent time there, I also met so many of my countrymen. And where Filipinos gather, there is always food! :-)

I also loved walking around the island looking at all the beautiful houses and their perfectly trimmed hedges.

Some houses are open to walking tours. Look at this one for example. Love the hydrangeas around!

See what I mean? There is not one house that has an unkempt or untrimmed hedge. I guess since they are well to do, every thing else in their lives, including their properties are well maintained.

This is the Atlantic Ocean behind me. There was a time that a group of seals swam too close to shore and we watched them frolick in the water. It was quite a sight to behold!

This is the yard of the summer house where we stayed. We could spread picnic blankets on the grass and just enjoy the sun without going to the beach.

This is the chapel in Sconset, Nantucket. This chapel is just a hedge away from the house we stayed in.

Here is another glorious sunset, the sun reflected in the water.

The spire we see in the background is the spire of the First Congregational Church of Nantucket. It is a historic site in Nantucket.

Some of the yachts had helipads on them. Some very fancy, and it was fun just walking on the dock looking at all the boats moored.

Another part of town. All buildings have the same color and are made of shingles. Prices here are quite expensive since it is an island.

Showcasing the boats n the dock. :-)

Another picture at Children's beach with a friend. Days could be hot but the weather gets cooler in the evening.

The  uniform color of the buildings adds to the charm of the island, especially for photos.

Another group of friends, and they came from all over the States, but mostly from New York and Washington DC.

I think this picture was taken in Cape Cod, just as the ferry was leaving. They have the best clam chowder in these parts of the US.

This is the ferry that we took from mainland Massachusetts. Cars get in the bottom and passengers go on top and enjoy the breeze on the deck or they can enjoy the airconditioning inside. The ferry from Cape Cod takes approximately 2 hours.

This is another part of town. Notice the cobblestone road- which is unique to the island. It's just in downtown though, which is good in a way, because cars cannot go speeding, and people walking and enjoying the views can easily jump out of the way if need be.
