Early Morning Adventures in Israel

Shalom everybody! Here is another set of pictures I am going to share. During our trip to Israel, we would always wake up early in the morning, perhaps due to jet lag, or most probably because we were too excited to be there, we'd always wake up very early and get ready. Instead of being cooped up in the hotel waiting for breakfast, we would take walks in the neighborhood and explore the area.

I'll just give  short descriptions on the pictures just so you have an idea where the pictures were taken. Enjoy!

This is Tel Aviv beach. It was just a few minutes walk from our hotel, so when we woke up and were ready, we went out to explore just as the sun would come out.

Since it was November when we went, it was a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings. This beach gets very busy in the summer. There was one sole swimmer when we were there.

There was this tiny sandbar in one part, and it was cool to take a picture when the waves parted and the sand became visible.

This was our first morning in Israel, and the only day we spent in Tel Aviv.

Imagine this beach full of people during the summer: sunbathing, playing beach volleyball and other games. The beach is full of people and activity during the summer.

It was just us during that November morning save for one lone early morning swimmer so we had the whole beach to ourselves.

The sandbar without anybody.

We arrived at the beach while it was still dark but the daybreak came fast.

Most of the buildings near the beach are hotels. Ours was a little bit further from the beach.

This picture was taken from Nof Tavor, which is a kibbutz, which is a communal settlement near Nazareth.

Since we were early birds, we were blessed to see this beautiful sunrise in Nof Tavor as well.

It was always fun exploring the area early in the morning right before breakfast.

I now take you to the suburbs of Jerusalem. This area is near the Ceasar Palace hotel, where we stayed in Jerusalem.

We took a walk one morning to go to the Wailing Wall and we passed by Mount of Olives. That is the Mount of Olives  behind me although we see very few olive trees. These days it is a cemetery.

A Jerusalem sunrise taken at the Dung Gate, near the entrance of the Wailing Wall. The Mount of Olives is still the background.

We always woke up early so that we could walk around the city and explore on foot before our touring began.

We were trying to look for our favorite shawarma shop when we were there in 2005.

This is our favorite olive tree in Jerusalem. This is on our way to the Mahane Yehuda market.

Our walk led us to the Wailing Wall, and we took our time praying there without time constraints like when we were with the group.

The early risers gang. We sure took a lot of pictures around Jerusalem while walking around.

Near our hotel. Buildings in Jerusalem are made of lime stones, so they give off that golden hue when the early morning or late afternoon sun reflects on them.

See what I mean? That's why Jerusalem is also known as the City of Gold.

The Wailing Wall is never empty. There is always someone praying there at all times. This was early morning and there were already people like us who went to pray.

We sure had a lot of morning adventures in Israel. I look forward to the day when I can visit yet again. Until then, shalom everybody!
