Fort Siloso in Singapore

Hello again! Singapore is a very modern country. Getting around is very easy, thanks to its super efficient transportation system. We may think that Singapore is all about the modern and cool buildings, but it also has a very nice beach and a forest in one place.

What am I talking about? Let me take you to Fort Siloso, which is in the Sentosa area. We had fun exploring the place, and from the bus stop in Sentosa, there is a free shuttle that takes people around the area.

This is a hanging bridge that lets you go to the other side of the island, and it was cool crossing it!

This is the shuttle that takes people to the beach and back to the bus stop. It is free so you just get on and ask the driver to let you off where you want. There is also a bird show theater in the area that you may want to check out.

Fort Siloso is apparently the southernmost point of Continental Asia.

It was super hot when we were there, but we had fun taking pictures in the area as there were a lot of cool places to take pictures like this one.

There is also a mini garden that you pass through after crossing the hanging bridge to go to the observation deck.

Before getting on the hanging bridge, click!

Do not commit any crimes, or else you might get shot with a cannon! Ha ha!

Since we did not have swimsuits, we just took a lot of pictures.

We had to wait for some time and let people pass in order to take a picture with the least amount of people so that we could take a picture that shows the bridge.

I would have loved to try to shake the bridge as I was walking had there been no other people around.  :-)

Definitely a nice place to include if you're visiting Sentosa Island.

Near the area is the Fort Siloso Skywalk, which is a treetop trail elevated from 11 storeys above ground.

Near the area where the cannon is, there is an elevator that you can take to go to the platform.

Fort Siloso is the only preserved coastal port in Singapore, and it tells the story of how the British forces defended the island from the invading Japanese forces during World War II.

When you arrive on top, there is a part of the observation deck that is made of tempered glass and you can look down 11 floors below. Those with fear of heights might find it impossible to even look down, let alone sit or stand on the glass.

It took me a few minutes to muster of my courage to stand and strike a pose, and we did it quickly cos it was a bit scary. You know the glass is strong, but you just get that thought, 'what if it breaks?'

If you walk the trail, the end of it leads you to some of the preserved weaponry during the war.

The skyway is supported by these metal frames. One should not look down if they have fear of heights.

Along the way you see gigantic trees, that's why I call it a 'forest'.

If you walk leisurely, the whole trail will take you around 15- 20 minutes at the most. It's funt o enjoy the vegetation, and to look out the sea and just smell the fresh air.

This bench is at the end of the trail and on the other side are the cannons and other things.

I wonder why we did not take a picture of the cannons though. Ha ha.

View of the sea from up top, and it was perfect timing that a cruise ship was passing by.

Trees and the sea in one place. Cool eh? Who would have thought the Singapore has this?

The vegetation was quite dense, and there were also birds in the area.

 Nice view.

The gang, two of my sisters and a niece. Pardon our big faces.

Do include Fort Siloso in your itinerary if you are in the area. Until then, til next time! For more travel articles, you can go to this page.
