The InterContinental Resort Hotel Hanoi West Lake

Hello everyone! Here is another hotel  we would like to feature, as this is the hotel we stayed in when we went to visit Hanoi, Vietnam. And yes, I am talking about the InterContinental Resort Hotel Hanoi West Lake.

Our trip to Hanoi was in November last year, so it was autumn as well when we were there. The autumn weather in Hanoi is not too cold, just perfect for walking around.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, and this hotel resort is located on the peaceful waters of the largest lake in Hanoi, the West Lake. It is a 15 minute drive to the city center, and some 20-30 minutes drive from the airport.

Since the hotel is a resort, there are several buildings scattered all over the lake, and our room was in a building which was on the lake itself, which was very nice of the staff to do for us. They gave us an extra large king bed to boot, with welcome notes and everything else prepared.

This is the area just outside our room. My niece was raving about the hotel being 'swag', ha ha.

This is the building where our room was at, and in the morning, while we were having coffee, we would hear the birds chirping or see fishermen on the water doing small fishing.

The building with the red roof is called the Sunset Bar, and it is aptly named because you see the sun set from this area as you enjoy your drinks.

Our room was the one in the middle on the lower floor. It was quite nippy in the mornings, and it was so nice to look out into the lake as we were enjoying our morning coffee before getting ready for the day.

The Sunset Bar from another angle. It must have taken years to build the resort as all the buildings are on the water.

This is the main building, where the main lobby is, as well as the restaurants. We arrived at the hotel way past midnight, and they were so efficient they checked us in so fast so that we could go in and rest.

This is the view we get on the West Lake. During the whole duration of our stay, it was always hazy, not sure why.

And this is the sunset, although it was not spectacular like other places, it was still beautiful.

The balcony of our room overlooks the water as well as the main building.

The hotel has a total of 318 rooms, complete with restaurants, gym, pool and other facilities. They also have currency exchange service available if you need local currency.

One of the flower arrangements in the lobby. US dollars are also accepted as a mode of payment, as well as credit cards of course. You can check their rates here.

Another view of the sunset, this time it is reflected on the water. I just wished the sky was a little more dramatic, but alas.

We only made use of the pool on our first day, because it was too cold to swim in the mornings or evenings when we were in the hotel. During the day we were out exploring Hanoi.

Other guests at the hotel were content to just lounge by the chairs, we were the only ones brave enough to take a dip in the water during that time of day. :-)

One of the sitting areas at the main lobby. There are several areas, so you can take your pick and relax in one of them as you wait for your ride, or as you decide where to go for the day.

This is another area, and we actually spent quite some time on our last day because we were too tired to go out so we just hung out there until it was time to go to the airport.

This is also the outside area of where our room is. Good thing my sister asked to have her picture taken a lot so I can feature them here.

This is also the building where our room is  taken from the main building side.

The hallway on the second floor of our building, overlooking the other buildings.

The main building taken on the side. I must say, the staff are super friendly, as is always the service provided in all of the other InterContinental hotels I have stayed at.

They had very nice paintings at the lobby as well, which were refreshing to the eyes.

They even used potted plants as a partition for one of the restaurants, I think.

And this is the parking area for the employees of the resort. People use motorbikes almost anywhere. It is the most common mode of transportation in Vietnam, as it can easily weave in and out of traffic.

We also saw this man fishing on the lake on our last day. I just hoped he caught something. Well, it has been another great experience in one very nice hotel resort, and looking forward to staying in more of them in the coming days.
